Indiana College English Association 2017 Conference

The Gift of Words

Friday, October 27, 2017

Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus and

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus

Columbus, Indiana

This year’s ICEA interdisciplinary conference invites researchers and practitioners from a wide variety of academic fields, including Rhetoric, Cultural Studies, Literary Studies, Linguistics, the Arts, Theology, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and other areas to generate discussion about how fiction and other literatures cherish the gift of words.

This interdisciplinary conference will challenge participants through interactive discussion of papers and presentations dealing with our conference theme. Across the disciplines, how does literature, including fiction and storytelling, cherish language?

We encourage proposals that deal with this topic as it relates to the following. Do not limit your ideas merely to these areas, however. Use your imagination and connect “the gift of words” to your discipline!

  • Curricular and course design
  • College and classroom challenges
  • Engagement in professions
  • Cross-cultural relationships
  • Global issues

Plan to arrive early and/or stay after the conference to participate in a guided tour of the Columbus, IN, architecture.
